PTM UK Holds Peaceful Demonstration Outside the British Parliament

On 11 March 2026, the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement UK (PTM UK) organized a large and peaceful demonstration outside the British Parliament in London. The protest raised a strong voice for justice and human rights against the ongoing oppression, violence, and human rights violations committed against Pashtun Afghans under Pakistan’s military establishment.

During the demonstration, PTM highlighted what it described as brutal and inhumane attacks against Afghan Pashtuns and called on the international community to recognize these actions as clear violations of international law and fundamental human rights principles.

PTM urged international human rights and legal organizations to take immediate steps to ensure the protection of innocent Afghan civilians and to prevent the continued targeting of ordinary people.

The movement also drew attention to the situation in Pashtun regions, where Pashtuns continue to face severe challenges due to military operations and the activities of armed proxy groups allegedly supported by the Pakistani military. PTM stated that military operations, drone strikes, targeted killings, and enforced disappearances have caused immense suffering for innocent Pashtuns over many years.

The demonstration further highlighted the cases of several detained and forcibly disappeared PTM activists and leaders. PTM stated that Haji Abdul Samad Khan, a senior member of the movement’s central committee, has been unlawfully imprisoned for more than 15 months.

PTM also raised the case of Ali Wazir, a prominent Pashtun political leader whose family suffered the loss of 18 members due to violence allegedly linked to the Pakistani military and its proxy groups. According to PTM, Ali Wazir has remained imprisoned for more than 20 months without formal charges and has spent approximately 44 months in prison over the past five years.

The movement also highlighted cases of enforced disappearances involving PTM activists. PTM Sindh coordinator Noorullah Tareen and provincial member Hanif Pashtin have reportedly been missing for nearly 120 days, with no information available regarding their whereabouts or condition.

According to PTM, the two individuals disappeared on 12 November 2025 after attending a peace jirga organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). PTM stated that seven of its members were forcibly disappeared while leaving the gathering. Following prolonged student protests at the University of Peshawar, five individuals were later released, while Noorullah Tareen and Hanif Pashtin remain missing.

PTM also stated that thousands of its activists have been placed on Pakistan’s “Schedule 4” list, resulting in severe restrictions on their freedom of movement, political participation, and civil rights.

During the protest, PTM once again called upon international human rights organizations and the wider international community to take practical measures to address ongoing human rights violations against Pashtuns, end enforced disappearances, stop the targeting of civilians, and support accountability and justice.

PTM UK further announced that an official letter will be submitted to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Copies of the letter will also be sent to Members of Parliament (MPs), the UK Parliament, and various embassies based in the United Kingdom.

The purpose of the letter is to inform the international community about the ongoing oppression, violence, and serious human rights violations allegedly committed against Pashtun Afghans and to urge meaningful international attention and action regarding the situation.
